Learn the basics of single color and multiple color dyeing from enthusiast Barbara Davies
In this hands on workshop, you will see a demonstration of single color stove top dyeing with Jacquard acid dyes.
Then you will try your hand at a 2 or 3 colored hand painted skein,
which will be yours to take home.
Fee includes one skein of yarn as well as all the materials needed for dyeing. Additional skeins will be available for purchase if you would like to try more color combinations.

Come learn how easy it can be to make fresh homemade bread. No more dense whole wheat bread.
Fast, easy, nutritious and delicious!
Fee $15/person: Upon completion of class you will receive a $10 gift card to A Simpler Time Store.
Equipment used: Nutrimill and Bosch Universal mixer
Taught by Barbara Davies, Mom with over 25 years bread baking experience for family of 11.
Every family will go home with a loaf of freshly baked bread to share with the rest of their family.

Learn the Basics of Punch Needle Rug Hooking

Punch needle rug hooking--sometimes described as "painting with wool"--is a versatile craft that began in the 1880s and is currently enjoying a surge of interest! In this workshop, you will make a “mug rug” (a.k.a. a fancy coaster!) and in the process learn how to use a punch needle, how to create the correct size stitch with the needle, and how to hem your finished project. By the end of class you will have the basic skills necessary to make larger wall hangings, pillows, and rugs!
Monk’s cloth with pattern and luxurious 100% Alpaca Rug Yarn from A Simpler Time are included in the class fee. An Oxford Punch Needle ($32) and No-Slip Hoop ($12) will be provided and can be purchased after class if desired.
Christie Beniston is an artist and designer based in Southern California and has had a thriving art practice for over 25 years. Christie studied punch needle rug hooking with Amy Oxford, an internationally known rug hooker and author and founder of the Oxford Rug Hooking School in Vermont. As a Certified Oxford Punch Needle Instructor, Christie is one of only a handful of instructors on the West Coast and the only one in San Diego.
